St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving the lives of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by the late Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. Niswonger Children’s Hospital’s affiliation with St. Jude makes it possible for children in the Southern Appalachian region to receive much of their treatment close to home.
As part of the St. Jude Domestic Affiliate Program, this local affiliate clinic offers the opportunity for children to receive a portion of their research-based care at a facility in or near their home community. Recognized as a crucial aspect of maintaining normal child development, this arrangement allows the patient and family members to receive hometown support and to continue with their usual activities as much as possible.
