Senior Financial Accountant

Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Senior Financial Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s financial integrity and strategic decision-making. Reporting to the Director of Accounting and Chief Financial Officer, this position is responsible for managing the general ledger, preparing financial statements, conducting in-depth financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, financial modeling, advanced Excel, and data-driven financial analysis to provide actionable insights and enhance financial performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Perform comprehensive financial analysis, identifying trends, variances, and key performance indicators to support strategic decisions.
  • Manage and reconcile the general ledger including journal entries, accruals, allocations, and adjustments.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Utilize accounting software to manage and streamline accounting operations, reporting, and data integrity.
  • Support the design and implementation of internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to provide financial insight, monitor budgets, and ensure fiscal accountability.
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of annual audits, tax filings, and compliance reports.
  • Create and maintain advanced Excel-based financial tools, dashboards, and analytical reports.
  • Drive process improvements and automation to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency. 

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.  Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in healthcare, corporate, or audit environments.  Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or comparable accounting/finance ERP systems.  Proven expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and advanced Excel functions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and analytical principles.  Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to interpret complex financial data.  Advanced proficiency in Excel (including Power Query, Power Pivot, macros, and data visualization tools).  Experience with financial models, reporting, and automation.  Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.  Collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
