We live in one of the most beautiful regions of the country. Yet, if we are not functioning at our best it is difficult to enjoy the beauty around us and live a full and satisfying life that we love. The ETSU Health Behavioral Health and Wellness Clinic (BHWC) is here to help you live your best life. The BHWC is part of the Department of Psychology’s doctoral program in clinical psychology. Our staff are graduate student clinicians. All student clinicians are closely supervised by licensed psychologists.
Call to be scheduled for a telephone screening with our Clinic Coordinator. This 20-minute phone screening will enable us to determine your needs and whether we are able to meet them. If you are accepted as a client of the BHWC, the Clinic Coordinator will inform you at that time. Your case will be assigned to a clinician who will contact you to schedule your first appointment.
You may contact us by phone or by emailing bhwc@etsu.eduWe are not able to communicate by text message.
- Please note that phone and email cannot be used for emergencies or crises. Many of our clinicians and supervisors are in clinic on a part-time basis.
- If we miss your call, please feel free to leave a confidential voicemail.
- If you leave a message, please share a few days and times when you are available for a return call. Be sure to provide the phone number where we have permission to leave a message for you, whether on voicemail or with another trusted person. Messages will be discreet.
Hours:
Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.

About the Appalachian Treasure Fund
The Appalachian Treasure Fund aims to enhance access to mental health services for those in need and increase support for mental health providers and trainees in East Tennessee. The BHWC is seeking financial contributions to fund the following essential initiatives:
- Subsidized Therapy & Assessment Services: Donations will help us provide mental health services at reduced or no cost to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship.
- Outreach Programs: With support, we can expand outreach efforts to remote and underserved communities by assisting in costs for providing assessments onsite for remote organizations/programs and sustaining telehealth services for therapy, groups, and psychoeducation.
- Accessible Care: Due to extremely limited staff and space, we are frequently well beyond capacity to serve our waitlists and referrals. Your financial gifts can be utilized to address staffing and space barriers that prevent more services from reaching our underserved community.
Your contribution, no matter the size, can make a significant impact and help us advance our mission. Together, we can work on improving the mental well-being of countless individuals in our community and contribute to a brighter and healthier future for us all.
To Make a Donation
As a member of East Tennessee State University, we are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible. Financial gifts can be made securely online using this link.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss potential partnership opportunities further, please feel free to contact our Clinic Director Dr. Natasha Gouge at gougenb@etsu.edu or by calling the BHWC at (423) 439-7777.
