Sharon Wilder was a registered nurse for 15 years before deciding to pursue her goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. Originally licensed in California, she moved to Tennessee in 1993 to be closer to extended family and to seek greater career opportunities. Over the years, she has worked in a variety of nursing roles, including hospice care, home health, as a nursing supervisor in a long-term care facility and in a hospital intensive care unit.

With more than 32 years of experience in health care, Sharon brings a broad clinical background to her role and values how each experience has helped shape her into the provider she is today. Her diverse work with many types of patients has strengthened her skills and deepened her commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Now living in Sneedville, she was drawn to the ETSU Health school-based health clinics for the opportunity to serve her local community. She believes that most health care professionals enter the field out of a true desire to help others — a value she holds closely. From early in her career, she learned that keeping the patient at the center of care improves everything else. Sharon strives to treat every patient with the same respect and concern she would offer her own family.
