Dr. Katie Masters’ decision to become a doctor was inspired by her childhood music teacher, a trusted mentor who lost much of his vision due to complications from diabetes. Seeing someone so full of life face such a difficult outcome sparked her desire to make a difference — not just by treating illness, but by helping patients manage chronic conditions before serious complications arise.

A Kingsport native, Dr. Masters is proud to return home, where much of her family still lives. She was drawn to ETSU Health because of its strong reputation for putting patients and community first — something she recognized growing up in the region.

Dr. Masters sees medicine as a true partnership. She works closely with patients to set realistic goals, explain options clearly, and ensure they feel confident and empowered in their care. For her, the most rewarding part of each day is watching patients improve their health so they can enjoy what matters most in their lives.
